K12 District & Faculty Professional Development

We establish connections between the culture of a school and the opportunities and barriers that are present in specific educational settings. These opportunities to improve student learning and promote inclusion often lie with the adults in the school, rather than the students. At TSC Training & Development, our goal is to help school districts design training experiences that promote teacher efficacy, and improve school culture.

Diversity and Social Justice In Education

When we talk about social justice in education, we're talking about the idea that every student deserves a fair shot at success - no matter who they are or where they come from. It means making sure that all students have access to quality education and the resources they need to thrive, and that we work to address systemic inequalities and biases that have held some students back in the past. This can be done through things like culturally responsive teaching, restorative justice practices, and making sure that resources are distributed equitably.

As educators and leaders, it's also important that we're mindful of our own biases and work to create a safe, inclusive, and just learning environment for every student. Ultimately, social justice in education is about giving every student the chance to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.

We provide training that helps student-centered faculties develop their knowledge and skills for teaching diverse student populations.

Making Student Voice Matter!

Effective educators value student voice by actively seeking out and listening to the perspectives and experiences of their students. They understand that each student brings unique experiences and perspectives to the classroom and that these perspectives are valuable in creating a rich and inclusive learning environment. They create opportunities for students to share their thoughts and ideas in class discussions, group projects, and other forms of assessment.

Effective educators also provide students with opportunities to engage in inquiry-based learning, where they can explore their own interests and passions and connect what they're learning in the classroom to their own lives.

Our training helps school and district leaders transform their schools for enhanced student participation and family partnerships.

The School Culture Question: Do We Really See Our Students?

Culturally relevant educators also recognize and value the diversity within their classrooms and use this diversity as an asset to enhance the learning experiences of all students. They make sure to include diverse texts, perspectives and voices in the curriculum, and create a safe space for students to share their own experiences, culture and traditions. They also make sure to use inclusive language, and be respectful of the diverse backgrounds and identities of their students.

Culturally relevant educators empower students to be active agents in their own learning and make sure to provide opportunities for student agency. This means they give students the autonomy to make choices and decisions, and provide them with the necessary support and guidance to take ownership of their learning.

Our training helps teachers answer these and other critical questions appropriate for annual professional development and refinement.
